If you are looking for luxury accommodations in the capital of Iceland, look no further than The Reykjavik Edition. This 5-star hotel is located right in the heart of Reykjavik, overlooking the Faxafloi Bay and next to the iconic Harpa Music Hall. Whether you are here for a quick city break or ending a longer Iceland Adventure, The Reykjavik Edition offers a comfortable stay with top-notch amenities in a great location!

The Hotel

The Reykjavik Edition is designed with a blend of modern elegance and Icelandic natural elements. The lobby is sleek and moody, incorporating volcanic textures, Nordic design and the Northern Lights. A sculpture that resembles a volcano welcomes guests upon entry. This was one of my favorite parts of the hotel! With 253 rooms, this hotel is large enough to offer a variety of amenities while maintaining that boutique feel.

The Rooms

We stayed in the Standard Room with two queen beds, ideal for traveling with friends! Unlike the dark, neutral tones in many Edition hotels, this room had the most color in an edition that I’ve seen! The room had subtle pops of color which gave it an inviting feel! The design was still sleek and modern, with floor to ceiling windows that had incredible views of the city or the harbor.

The bathroom was the standout feature! The floors were heated which was something I didn’t know I needed until I had it! After a day of exploring in the cold, the heated floors were the perfect treat!

Dining at The Reykjavik Edition

This hotel has several dining options ranging from the cafe, to formal restaurant, to a rooftop bar. During our stay, we visited:

Lobby Bar:

After our afternoon at sky lagoon, we were looking for just something light and casual. The lobby bar was perfect! The bartender, Thomas, was amazing! He chatted with us about our trip as well as Iceland. We ordered drinks and some appetizers to share. We had the toasted ravioli, nachos and chicken skewers. Everything was delicious but they were definitely not the nachos we expected. They were just chips and guacamole!

Rooftop Lounge:

The rooftop bar is the place to be in the evening. With floor-to-ceiling windows, you have panoramic views of Reykjavik at night. If you are lucky you can even see the Northern Lights at times. There are tables as well as couches to relax on inside as well as an outdoor terrace that would be beautiful to sit on in the warmer months. We enjoyed drinks and relaxed while keeping an eye on the sky for the lights!

Amenities

The hotel has a spa with a hot tub and sauna as well as a gym. My favorite amenity was the valet parking. For just about $50 the hotel will valet your car but you are able to get it from them at any time and multiple times throughout your stay. This was perfect as we wanted to be able to access our car to go search for the northern lights!

Yes, absolutely! Whether you are spending a night or 2 in Reykjavik, The Reykjavik Edition is one of the best luxury hotel options in the city. The location is amazing, the design is stunning and the amenities are exactly what you need after exploring Iceland!
